Key Stage 3 - Spanish
At Queen’s School, our Key Stage 3 Spanish curriculum provides students with a dynamic and immersive introduction to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. Designed to build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, this course follows the National Curriculum, ensuring students develop a strong foundation in linguistic skills while also gaining insight into the diverse cultures of Spanish-speaking countries.
Through interactive lessons, role-plays, storytelling, and multimedia resources, students will expand their vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation, allowing them to communicate effectively in real-life situations. Our goal is to foster a love for language learning and equip students with the tools to excel in future language studies.
Assessment in Key Stage 3 Spanish is continuous and skills-based, focusing on language proficiency across the four key areas of learning:
- Speaking: Conversational practice, role-plays, and pronunciation exercises.
- Listening: Comprehension of native speaker dialogues and real-world audio materials.
- Reading: Understanding written Spanish through stories, articles, and cultural texts.
- Writing: Constructing sentences, paragraphs, and short essays with correct grammar and vocabulary.
Students are also assessed through end-of-unit tests, interactive oral presentations, and creative writing tasks, ensuring they build confidence in their language abilities.
Homework is set weekly and designed to reinforce classroom learning. Tasks may include:
- Vocabulary practice using flashcards and language apps.
- Grammar exercises to consolidate verb conjugations and sentence structures.
- Listening activities using online resources and Spanish-language media.
- Short writing assignments, such as diary entries, emails, or descriptions of daily life.
